Rain, rain, rain…

With the now pressing heat, it seems like ages have passed since the long rains finally stopped – and what rains those were! Every day seemed to bring more water, more water than seemed possible – roads turned to rivers, swamps appeared where there were previously none and bridges were washed away, cutting off all access to Darakuta by car. It seemed like almost every other day there was news of floods washing away houses, people and vehicles all over Tanzania. Even though you could still get almost everywhere with the trusty TVS motorbikes, even they needed a bit of help from some locally-constructed pole bridges.
